Right, but those values can only be chosen from one of the 16 colors that I set. I should have changed the colors in the screenshots to demonstrate better, but you can see in the gnome-terminal settings screenshot that the text color is not a color that exists in the palette below it. |
Due to the limitations of conhost it's not possible at the moment. Only "paletted" text color is supported. |
BTW, anyone may choose arbitrary color for background. The text color is upon console application, e.g. you may configure your prompt. Related to gh-227. |
Terminal emulators on Linux and OSX allow setting colors for the foreground and background independently of the other colors in the palette. This is used, for example, in w0ng's hybrid theme for vim to have an extra black where the background black is the default and color number 0 is the current line highlight.
