In an effort to refocus the event to be more around the community rather than the talks, we want to slightly rearrange the event. Some things discussed were:

  • Bring the start time forward to 6:30 and kicking off at 6:45
  • Have the food come in a break between the 2 talks
  • Have a designated end time so that people know when we'll be finished
  • To be more inclusive (e.g. religious and personal safety reasons), stop alcohol being part of the event. This means stopping the pub trip.
  • Potentially introduce name stickers with an area to write what you're interested in talking about.

As of next month this will start being implemented. I've emailed Futurelabs and they're happy for us to stay up until 9:30, so a rough agenda would look like this:

  • 6:30: People start arriving
  • 6:45 - 6:50: Introductions
  • 6:50 - 7:20: First talk
  • 7:20 - 7:35: Break with food and chat
  • 7:35 - 8:20: Second talk
  • 8:20 - 9:25: Social & point that people can leave
  • 9:25: Pack up to leave
