Suggestion

At work, I have 2 monitors:

Monitor 1:

  • small screen, placed on the side
  • 3 workspaces with workspace rules to catch and arrange apps I have open all the time (Teams, Calendar, Spotify etc.).

Monitor 2:

  • ultrawide screen, main "working area"
  • 3 workspaces with no rules to use it with apps that move a lot (multiple Chrome instances, Database tools, etc.)

Sometimes I will move one or more of the apps from monitor 1 to monitor 2 e.g. to write a long form Teams message. When I'm done I want to send the app back to monitor 1, according to the workspace rules.

For this case, it would be very helpful to have a cli command like reset-to-initial-workspace-rules to reset the app arrangement.

Alternatives Considered

I didn't find a way to do that except of creating a hotkey for each workspace on monitor 1.
