So project x has been installed successfully and worked well.
Now I tried to pick up the game again and was trying to figure out which shortcut is for the ingame mod settings.

PC: ctrl + shift + backspace
xbox: back + start

but now whenever I use those shortcuts it just instantly closes to desktop, I don't really know where to look for logs or anything of that so if someone could help, that would be appreciated.

Version: 9.1.9

For other people having the same issue, I've done some digging and found out apparently there was an update of FFX which requires additional configuration.

Please see: FFX Configuration

Worked like a charm. Thanks.

@kittykitty71 what configurations did u apply? saw the link but which config that you changed?

@tohajasper - there were several settings suggested within the dxgi.ini:
[Steam.Log]
Silent=true

[Render.FrameRate]
TargetFPS=60.0

[Window.System]
RenderInBackground=true

[Render.DXGI]
UseFlipDiscard=true

[Input.Gamepad]
AllowHapticUI=false

In my case, after some trial and error the crucial bit seemed to be the Silent=True line. Trying to open the config menu ALWAYS causes a crash for me without that setting, but always works once it's set.

@kittykitty71 thanks for your help! setting the silent to true fix it for me as well

I just tried setting all these to what you have. It got a little further, can actually see the menu, but right when it popped up, it still crashes. Any ideas?
Nevermind! Guess it just doesn't work if it is opened during the opening cinematic.

I'm having this same issue. I don't understand how you can even access the Special K menu WITHOUT pressing Start + Select.

How do you edit the configuration when you can't even get into the menu :'D

Would really like to get this thing to work

Seemed to have fixed the problem completely. Simply opened the dxgi.ini in the FFX steam folder, changed the RenderInBackground= setting from true to FALSE, and miraculously fixed the problem...

Now my button gamepad bindings don't work :(

Try using my dxgi.ini > dxgi.txt

I had to change the extension to upload on Github, also, remember to make a backup from your dxgi.ini before!

Hey there thank you so much for your response! Unfortunately it didn't fix the Gamepad booster issue

if anyone comes to this way later looking for answers like I did, I can confirm what worked for me was going into my dxgi.ini file and changing RenderInBackground from true to false. game was crashing on boot up and now has been running for about 2 hours no crash with almost every character swapped up to 8k textures
