We'd like to add a page or section to the Ask JGI handbook that describes what to do when Ask-JGI is contacted with an opportunity to collaborate.

Include in section

The section should include:

  • What to find out at an initial meeting:
    • Do they have funding and how much for data science support?
    • How much work is involved/what are the deliverables?
    • How long is the project?/When is the funding deadline
    • What experience is necessary to carry out the work, is it something that could be done by a student?
    • What will the research outputs be (e.g. paper, dataset, software, public engagement activity)
  • Who to send this information to ([email protected])
  • What to do if we can help (hand over details collected about the project to the person who'll be working on it)
  • What to do if we can't help (fill in details of the project in the missed opportunities spreadsheet)

Things to think about

  • Where's the best place in the handbook for this information?
