Add Data Curation Tool to Harvard Dataverse Repository #32
Comments
@TaniaSchlatter I just spoke with @sbarbosadataverse and she said these are all very standard in social science research. I gave her a little demo and we played around with some more features of the Data Curation Tool. I guess the only thing I'll add is that another place where you can see your curation being saved into the system is the new HTML Codebook. For example, we added "this is my note" in the screenshots below. |
This guide from DDI might be helpful, too. And the DDI Codebook docs have descriptions for each of those terms, like universe and post question text. |
Thanks for comments. Will these form items provide value for researchers outside of social science? Are there terms that could be more generally useful? |
@TaniaSchlatter maybe it should be called The Social Science Data Curation Tool. 😄 |
Here's the end user documentation for the Data Curation Tool from https://github.com/scholarsportal/Dataverse-Data-Curation-Tool#using-the-data-curation-tool In addition, a new video demo should be available soon! @kaitlinnewson just gave an awesome webinar to 51 participants and will be following up with slides and a link, probably on this thread: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/KZ0Sgz12a2o/e6L8tJW5AQAJ I'll definitely be adding it to DataverseTV: https://dataverse.org/dataversetv 😄 |
Putting this on hold until later this month. New functionality is being written that will better support the current version of Dataverse. |
This feature is now running in Demo and Production |
2024/09/17: Update: Was originally released to prod but was paused awaiting release of the new version of the tool. The tool is currently available on demo.dataverse.org for testing purposes. See #296 (comment) |
Especially after seeing the new blog post announcing the Data Curation Tool I think it would be a great addition to https://dataverse.harvard.edu (and https://demo.dataverse.org ).
I just played around with it on https://dev2.dataverse.org and it seems to work great. Here are some screenshots.
