Diagnostic script 'validation.py' failing for difference map recipe

I'm trying to run a recipe to generate difference maps comparing a control dataset and a reference dataset, and I get the following error:
ValueError: Control dataset E3SM-1-0 not in datasets

I'm unsure if there's somewhere I need to add E3SM-1-0 (or any other model I'm using) to a set of "approved" models to be read in by the recipe, or if there's some other issue causing this. The recipe I'm using was created for an older version of ESMValTool and I've been updating it to be used with the latest version, so there may be something that I need to change within the recipe itself that I missed. I've attached the recipe I'm using, the debug log, and the additional log that the debug log directs me towards.
