Pre-processor to extract event set?

Hi everyone.

There are quite a few cases where I'd like to extract a list of timesteps from a CMIP file. For example extracting all days with a particular extreme event. Does anyone know any recipes that do this?

Or, do you think it would make a useful pre-processor?

@rjames-at-rwjames Do you mean a set of of inconsecutive events, e.g., [2010-01-25, 2015-06-13, 2021-11-15], where you know the days? Do you mean a set of consecutive days, e.g., for RX2day, [2021-11-15, 2021-11-16] or do you mean extract all days, where let's say daily precip is in between 50 and 100 mm? P.S. I am planning to submit soon ESMValGroup/ESMValCore#2304 if that of any help :-)

Hi @malininae Thank you! I meant the first one - a set of inconsecutive events where you know the days. Although it would also be useful to be able to extract multi day events. Thank you so much - I'll take a look at your submission :)
