The summary metadata at http://sweetontology.net/sweetAll does not provide any indication that additional SWEET resources (i.e,. the individual SWEET files) are available. The converse is also true—the individual SWEET files do not give any indication that a sweetAll file is available.

In fact, very little of the summary metadata is filled out for either sweetAll, or individual SWEET resources.

Just to note that the "Other" tab in the metadata details section at least shows all the "imports"

ooh, that's great! makes it easier to say where to go from here.

Incidentally, one of the metadata items that should be included in SWEET is the versionIRI, as Chris M suggests in #19. I created a ticket at mmisw/orr#6 to enable this, hopefully it is the right place and the right answer (or there is another answer that is easier).

Two comments:

  • In terms of content authoring, is that suggestion intended to replace or complement what's already captured with owl:versionInfo (see the "general" tab)?

  • In terms of the ORR tool, note that it does not add any metadata that is not part of the submitted ontology itself. To be more clear, this is the case for registration of existing, "external" ontology. The ORR does, however, suggest a set of metadata attributes when creating a vocabulary or a mapping ontology within the ORR itself.

I think versionIRI complements versionInfo. The former is a precise IRI that says "where do I find this version on the web" (well, more precisely "what is the identifier for this version?"), and the latter is almost always a text string.

Re the ORR tool, right, SWEET won't add the metadata. I'm suggesting it would be really good if we could establish what all the necessary metadata attributes are for COR and actually document these SWEET ontology files.

Actually, that's a really COR-specific approach. At the same time we should use MOD to document the same information, and anything else MOD suggests, for all these ontologies. I'd totally sign up to help make this happen. (I think there's a ticket already?)
