Since version 78 Thunderbird has a problem with mailto links that have a target="_blank" attribute. Thunderbird tries to open the links in a new tab. After that nothing happens anymore. Unfortunately the EDM designer sets target="_blank" for the links by default. You can't change this for the link type "email". Even if you try to work around this by selecting the type "URL", the protocol "Other" and the link "mailto:[email protected]". Then you can specify the target in the additional target settings, but the editor automatically recognizes the "mailto" link, changes the type to "e-mail" back and inserts target="_blank" again. This is a problem.Regardless of the fact that this no longer works in Thunderbird, it makes no sense to specify the target attribute in a mailto URL.
