The current update checker automatically gets the new package, but it does not notify the user to close out of the application and open the newer version. Let the user know there is an updated version ready and when they click 'OK' start a new instance of the new application, and close the current. If they click 'Cancel' leave the application running.

I would recommend pausing work on this issue until #63 is completed. This plan for this #63 is to package the jar file into what looks like a "real" application. This would be .exe or .app type files for Windows and Mac respectively. Check out the updatenoti branch.
