Custom-layout.rest

At the moment you can't change the layout of views from the GUI itself, but if you really want, you can do it by editing the configuration file by hand.

Let's say you want Shell view to appear to the right of the editor:

1. From the Thonny "Tools" menu select "Open Thonny data folder ..."
2. Close Thonny (otherwise your manual changes will be overwritten when Thonny gets closed later)
3. Open configuration.ini from the data folder in a text editor.
4. Under the section [view], add the following line: shellview.location = ne
5. Save the configuration file.
6. Open Thonny

In this example shellview is the (class) name of the view and ne is short for north-east (other options: nw, w, sw, s, ne, e, se). If you can't guess the required view name then search the codebase for ".add_view".
