Hi,

I think there's a new desktop version of the Whasapp app and I don't think this is working anymore with the new version, at least I don't see the Whatsapp icon in the tray anymore, now there's a generic Icon that when I hover it says "whatsapp" but when I click on it it doesn't open the WA window.

Can you take a look at this please?

Thank you

This seems to be WhatsApp installation problem. Search for "WhatsApp" in Start menu, then open the location of the shortcut and look at the shortcut properties - there is that generic icon. You can fix it by using "Change Icon..." action from there.

I don't see the location of Whatsapp when I do the Search on the Start Menu, this is what I see:

Sorry that's in Portuguese but none of those options are to open the folder where the program is installed...

Also, I don't think the WhatsappTray is linked to the new version of Whatsapp, I say this because I had the Tray running (like I said without the Whatsapp icon showing) I have Whatsapp open... I right clicked on the tray and instructed to close whatsapp and the generic icon disappeared like the app was closed but Whasapp is still running

So, I don't know what's happening :\

In your screenshot on the right side you can already see that the application icon is wrong. And this is the entry for the WhatsApp application itself, unrelated to WhatsappTray. My guess is that the icon problem will be fixed on the WhatsApp side on the next update.

As for the lost WhatsappTray - WhatsApp connection: try to close the whatsapptray application, then the whatsapp application (if it still is running), and then from Task List end all processes of whatsapptray.exe and whatsapp.exe, if there are any (I had plenty).
Then try to start WhatsappTray only and check, if it starts the WhatsApp application as well.

In any case - there is a diagnostic log subfolder in the folder, where whatsapptray is installed (for me it is C:\Program Files (x86)\WhatsappTray\log). You can take a look inside log file, maybe its content will contain a hint to your particular problem.

The new version is installed through the Microsoft Web Store and is completely rebuilt, so whatsapptray won't work anymore until it is rewritten for the new version.
