Fix frontend to use new model structure

The previously established model structure isn't mapped well to the front end and is not working as expected, we need multiple issues to fix it.

Yes, we need to replace the frontend basically. I will create an epic to outline the process of removing the Backbone templates and replacing them with Django templates.
