Implemented new smoothness constraints. BJ will rerun the simulated solar dataset and plot the template evolution by internal grand iteration.

Here is a plot of the template evolution as a function of internal grand iteration. Qualitatively, it looks like the issues with convergence in the high-frequency regime have been fixed. There are still some low-frequency features that are slow to converge.

The low-frequency issues seem to have gone away but there is some high frequency structure now. First task is to check that my template plotting code is workmen as expected on APF data.
