Computer hardware includes the physical, tangible parts or components of a computer.
Examples:
- Personal Computer (desktop and laptop)
- Mainframe Computer
- Supercomputer
- Single Board Computer (Raspberry Pi)
- Server (computation)
- Smartphones & Tablets
Assignment 1.0
Here's a picture of a Desktop computer, and here's a picture of a MacBook. Look at it and try to annotate all the different parts that make up the computer.

Can you do the same thing for a Smartphone? Do parts get different names?

Localize your devices, have a look at find my iPhone. Any old devices that show up? Also, jot down your serial number!

Change your device names. Make it something less personally identifying.

Sometimes your OS or programs misbehave. Programs won't load and you get the famous macOS beach ball. Often you want to know why that happened. This is called Machine Introspection. What are some of the tools you could use?

Try out some commands! Make a folder, rename something or create a new text file.

Backup your files! Pick a cloud service provider and port over your important files onto that service.

Encrypt your hard-drive with FileVault on MacOS. It enables full-disk encryption.

Set-up time machine on your MacBook. It's handy if you bring an external hard-drive to class.
