we need to be able to communicate with the outside world what are the products inside. Exiobase is based on CPA but we need to check if the match is exact or something is missing.

Another very detailed product classification is GS1 https://www.gs1.org/ which has been suggested https://hackathon.bonsai.uno/project/9 . It is not clear if we needed it right now.

CPA

  • check correspondence table
  • create json descriptor

This GPC documentation sounds interesting https://www.gs1.org/edi-xml/technical-user-guide/5_GS1_namespaces

I am not sure this is what you think you are... what do you see there that we could need?

I have not look at it in detail, but it seems they at least have unique identifiers.

It is useful because many institutions account expenses using this classification. Linking it with bonsai would facilitate the accounting of environmental impacts associated to these expenses.

The specific link is about an XML syntax, I don't see the "unique identifiers"

there is also the United Nations Standard Products and Services (UNSPSC) classification of products and services https://www.unspsc.org/ but I checked the website and it seems users have to pay to get the excel version (or access for free a humongous pdf). This is an insane policy on their part.
