A quick update on our communications so far with the OPHS (Office for the Protection of Human Subjects) regarding whether our project will require a review by the IRB.
They said to require IRB review, a project needs to meet both the definition of human subject and research.
We responded that this project meets both, and mentioned our team and our status at UCB
They then asked if we'd all be involved only for purposes of our studies or also as UCB affiliates, and also whether our project would be funded, and if so, by whom.
We responded that we did not foresee the use of any campus affiliation, and added that we would be applying for funding from CTSP and Big Ideas.
We're now waiting to hear back from the OPHS Dept.
Need to clarify what data will be collected and what will be done, what might be shared in aggregate.
Also need to check on if undergrads can be listed as investigators.
