Abstract

The goal of this proposal is to create a Github like smart contract library for the NEO blockchain. The application will provide reusable smart contract modules or more secure smart contract templates to simplify smart contract development. Our objective is to create tools that allow NEO coders to easily access and use code.

Proposal Information

Description

Project includes:

  1. a code template for other developers

  2. a fully functional development hub

  3. increased user engagement by providing clear UI/UX for interactions

  4. allow users to subscribe to remote Push Notifications for relevant topics

  5. provide richer information related to NEO

  6. serve as a basis for more smart contracts.

Project Category

Application Development Support

Motivation

Why are you requesting funding? Is there anything that triggered your interest and would like to share with us?

Goals

Currently developers do not have a lot of smart contract code and templates to reference
when creating smart contracts on NEO. Our solution would allow developers to access common good code should be some open-source code that's used by a significant number of live projects.

Our team would like to have a significant positive impact on the whole NEO ecosystem especially in terms of integration and security. The positive impact to the ecosystem includes and is not limited to the following:

●Common good code contribution: Common good code should be some open source code that's used by a significant number of live projects.

Useful products: Building useful products that drive growth, adoption, user experience, or any significant improvement to NEO will be considered a strong positive impact. For
example, an authentication project that integrates with multiple chains builds
a strong user base. Our objective is to create tools that enhance user experience by allowing users to easily authenticate themselves with their existing Bitcoin wallets as well as recover what they need.

Awareness & Education Efforts: This could include various forms of long-term contributions through marketing, content, and education efforts for the benefit of the
broader NEO ecosystem.

●Branding for NEO - We have already built and continue to build our strong community. See our community details below:

  • 45k+ followers
  • 250k+ monthly impressions on Twitter
  • Media partnerships with AIBC Summit, World Blockchain Summit, and Untraceable,
  • Industry partnerships including: SydTek DAO

Deliverables & Roadmap

Specify deliverables in detail, including the following info for each:

Milestone 1 (first 30-day sprint) : Design/build

  • Total Estimated Duration: 30 days
  • Full-Time Equivalent (FTE): 2
  • Total Budget: 1000 NEO
  1. Develop initial framework for the application
  1. Initial back end in php with a front-end developed in Vue
  1. Development of the first set of modules and module template (for creating new modules)
  1. Initial front end deployment in Vue
  1. Initial backend deployment in php/jQuery

Milestone 2 (final) : Finalization and bug testing of the system

  • Total Estimated Duration: 30 days
  • Full-Time Equivalent (FTE): 2
  • Total Budget: 2300 NEO
  1. Bug testing and finalization of NEOHUB
  1. Marketing and promotion of the upcoming integration.
  1. Availability of smart network template to the public
  1. Initial front end deployment in Vue
  1. V1 deployment on desktop and mobile

Deliverables Verifiability

We will post a list of each milestone and target we intend to achieve. This will be posted on a news page of NEOHUB within a week after we start development so people can see the progress we are making verifying each step in the process.

Further, given this will be an open-source product users will have the freedom to run, edit, fork, and share the platform. Additionally, as the number of users get onboarded we believe they will want more features. We are looking into expanding in the future by adding such features like a tutorials section, and an IDE for developers to test their code.

We are able to fulfill all 4 products in the Application Development Support section of your general grants. We would like to complete the first product and get it running with the possibility to apply for more funding for each product as we expand.

Budget Plan

  • We require 3300 NEO to complete the project. Below is a breakdown of how budget will be used:

Milestone 1 (first 30-day sprint) : Design/build

  • Total Estimated Duration: 30 days
  • Full-Time Equivalent (FTE): 2
  • Total Budget: 1000 NEO
  1. Develop initial framework for the application
  1. Initial back end in php with a front-end developed in Vue
  1. Development of the first set of modules and module template (for creating new modules)

Howdy team! I've noticed this is the second proposal you've put forth for GrantShares! Now I'm very curious as to what about the Neo blockchain has caught your eye and intrigued the team?

As a part of this proposal I'm interested in hearing more about the types of templates the team intends to create? Also, are there examples of similar types of projects the NeoHub will replicate? Has the team built any dApps or written smart contracts on Neo?

Is the NeoHub team submitting similar types of proposals for grants in other blockchain ecosystems?

Regarding the "Branding for NEO" section: where can we verify these statistics? What Twitter account are you referring to? I took a peak at the Hedge Kitten Twitter account and there are only 17 followers, and there hasn't been activity on the account since 2020.

Looking forward to the conversation!

As this is a public process, I think many of the GrantShares members would appreciate responses in this GitHub forum, since not everyone will be available to hop on a Zoom call.

I'm sure it's much easier to express these answers over voice call, but we have to be fair to all the voting members and general Neo public community, especially since we're not all in the same time zone.

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from the team!

We summarized our responses in the GitHub link below.

Hello @bitcoinkash

I believe you're misunderstanding how the process works. Let me brief you: GrantShares has a discussion forum using GitHub and everything happens in public -- no Zoom calls, no meetings behind walls. For example, you can check the "discussion page" of your proposal, at this link: #94

Please, reply with answers directly in the discussion thread on GitHub.

Hopefully, the proposal will get more traction from the GrantShares DAO Members once answers are provided here. 🚀

NeoHub Proposal Inquiry

Howdy team! I've noticed this is the second proposal you've put forth for GrantShares! Now I'm very curious as to what about the Neo blockchain has caught your eye and intrigued the team?

We had already started a similar project in the past and were surprised to see that Neo was interested in it. It captivated our interest and we are excited to continue the development.

As a part of this proposal I'm interested in hearing more about the types of templates the team intends to create? Also, are there examples of similar types of projects the NeoHub will replicate? Has the team built any dApps or written smart contracts on Neo?

We actually had a GitHub repository of sorts that we had started development on. The idea was to create tutorials and templates people could use to develop in Rust, Motoko, Solidity, among other languages. The project was put on pause as we had issues with a previous partner who was working on it. This is a project we would really like to get off the ground.

Is the NeoHub team submitting similar types of proposals for grants in other blockchain ecosystems?

We are not submitting this type of grant to any other blockchain.

Regarding the "Branding for NEO" section: where can we verify these statistics? What Twitter account are you referring to? I took a peek at the Hedge Kitten Twitter account and there are only 17 followers, and there hasn't been activity on the account since 2020.

The followers we have are coming from SydTek and Women in Blockchain Canada. HedgeKitten Twitter was created to secure the name, as we have developed our own AI for trading financial markets.

I think what we actually need is not a platform that hosts contract libraries, templates, and other things, but someone who produces those artifacts themselves. We could probably just host these things on a public repo on GitHub first.

I very much agree with this.

Yes we agree with this. we do in fact plan on creating our own libraries and snippets of code. but we also aim to make the site publicly available for others to upload their own snippets. We have no issue creating libraries of code for Github for now.

For a project that creates libraries and reusable contract code, a separate proposal would be appropriate.

Sounds good! We will do that.
