Rain Detection | Detects the presence of water through rain sensors, alerting for potential leaks or floods. |
Tilt Detection | Monitors tilt angles, indicating structural changes due to storms or physical disruptions. |
Automated Shutdown | Automatically shuts down the hydroponics system when critical threats are detected. |
Real-Time Notifications | Sends notifications to alert the user of environmental threats. |
- Enhanced Detection Sensitivity: Improved precision for rain and tilt sensors, reducing false alarms.
- LED Status Indicator: Visual alert feature that lights up to indicate an active threat.
- Power Conservation: Integrated sleep mode to conserve energy during periods of inactivity.
Auto-Detect is a game-changer for South African farmers, especially those using hydroponics in tough conditions. By harnessing IoT technology, it detects and responds to environmental threats like storms and leaks, protecting plants and equipment. This tool empowers farmers to protect their crops, save resources, and reduce risk, making it easier for small-scale operations to thrive sustainably. With Auto-Detect’s real-time alerts and automatic shutdowns, farmers can focus on growth while we handle the safety.
Auto-Detect operates within Denzyl, the hydroponic tent designed and equipped with advanced IoT sensors for environmental monitoring and control.
Tools and Languages Used:
- Arduino IDE: Platform for developing the microcontroller code.
- Download and Install: Clone the Auto-Detect repository or download the source code.
- Set Up Your Sensors:
- Connect the Tilt Sensor to Pin 2 for monitoring angular shifts.
- Connect an LED Indicator to Pin 3 to visualize threat status.
- Upload the Code:
- Open the code in the Arduino IDE.
- Upload to your Arduino device after connecting the sensors and LED.
- Test System Response:
- Activate the tilt sensor or simulate rain to verify the automated shutdown and notification functions.
