Bug Description

Enabling encryption means that I can't see my own messages in unencrypted form. I see only special characters. This happens on a fresh Minecraft 1.20.4 instance with only Fabric, Fabric API, and this mod installed and a fresh PaperMC 1.20.4.

Happens on clean Fabric and even vanilla 1.20.4 servers too.

Was using No Chat Reports 1.20.4-v2.6.1, FAPI 0.97.1 and Fabric Loader 0.15.11 on the client.
Together with #463, I couldn't get encryption to work at all on 1.20.4.
(I think the servers which people say encryption worked on may not have been actual 1.20.4 servers but servers using ViaVersion, where the packets being sent may be slightly different.)

Not an issue for me personally (1.20.4 is a weird version to be using today) - just stumbled upon this while working on #482.
