Is it possible to log-scale the variable being displayed?
Also, is it possible to have the scale ranges use scientific notation? My data has very small values compared to 1 in cgs units, so everything shows up as zeros:

Either at the command line or in your amrvis.defaults file, you can specific the number format used throughout using whatever c-style printf format you'd like
numberformat %7.5e
Do ``amrvis2d -help" to see the full list of options.
There is currently no option to log-scale the colormap, but that should be a simple thing to do. I'm not sure who is supporting amrvis now though.
