I am not sure if this is possible with the current release, but I would be really helpful to have the ability to convert to .cool only a subset of the genome, say a chromosome or a region. This would be great for testing purposes without having to work on the whole genome.

Thanks for submitting a feature request! This is a good idea and is definitely possibly to implement. It cannot be done with the current release; the only way to convert a subset of the genome would be to input a .hic file that contains only that subset (including corresponding header information).
However, our team will be very busy for the next few months. I will add this request to the backlog and check in here when we can finish it.
